Army Combat Uniform

Introduction To Combat Uniforms

The new Army Digital Camouflage General Combat Uniform (ACU) was jointly developed by the US Army and the Army Natick Research Center. The production cost is 88 US dollars per set, and each soldier can distribute 4 sets. 10,000 sets were initially produced and officially distributed in February 2005. The first batch of 85,000 sets of general-purpose combat uniforms was for Army troops. Since August 2005, it has been producing 400,000 sets of general-purpose combat uniforms per month and plans to eliminate jungle camouflage combat uniforms year by year. In 2008, the U.S. Army has completed the entire army. (Note: After 2010, ACU adopted CryePrecision’s OCP camouflage pattern instead of the original UCP camouflage pattern and has been equipped with the US Army in Afghanistan.)

Fabric Texture

The normal version is made of scratch-resistant fabric, which is a blend of 50% cotton and 50% nylon. The flame-retardant version is made of 65% man-made fibre, 25% aramid and 10% nylon blend. The garment can be automatically extinguished after leaving the fire source without melting, falling off, or burning.

Fabric Color

The UCP camouflage used in the Army Digital Camouflage General Combat Uniform (ACU) fabric is composed of 3 colour systems, including: dark green, green and white/light yellow. Small squares are composed of different and irregular overlapping patterns. The design is mainly for the jungle. , Desert and urban areas and anti-disturbance night vision equipment. Because the research centre found in the National Training Center in October 2002 during a four-month combat test that black does not exist in the natural mode of night vision, and the black pattern in the jungle combat uniform is used to separate colours, But the researchers pointed out that the black cannot be hidden in a black background or environment; it is easy to detect as long as there is movement. And the matching of jungle outline patterns is too large. Compared with jungle outline patterns, digital camouflage patterns can effectively blend in more environments.
